New Arts Council Executive Director

The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah E. Lentini as its new Executive Director, following an extensive national search. The appointment is effective June 8, 2000.

Sarah has served as Director of Planning and Development for the United Way of Greater Rochester for the last seven years. She brings to her new position a wealth of knowledge about the local community, and is an acknowledged leader in strategic planning and nonprofit management. Sarah's background includes time spent as a poet and writer, and as a jazz singer.

Her strengths include an ability to think carefully and creatively, and to develop effective relationships with a variety of people who represent diverse perspectives. Her existing relationships in the
community provide her with an expanded ability to think and act effectively on behalf of the Arts Council, and will enable her to make useful connections that bring people and ideas from one context into another.

According to Peter Giopulos, who co-chaired the Search Committee with Lois Niland, Sarah brings experience to all four of the major criteria sought by the search committee in a new executive director: planning, advocacy, management and fundraising.

Sarah earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from McGill University in Montreal. She lives in Penfield.

Sarah will attend the Americans for the Arts annual conference from June 8 to13 in Los Angeles, then work side by side with Sally Gaskill through June 30th.
