ARTS & CULTURAL COUNCIL FOR GREATER ROCHESTER
LOOKING FOR A NAME AND LOGO
FOR THE MILLENNIAL FESTIVAL OF ARTISTS

The Arts & Cultural Council's Artists Issues Committee will be staging a "Virtual Festival" of local artists (literature, film & video, dance, visual arts, music, web & new technology, and arts education) during the months of September, October, and November 2000.

We need a name and a graphic symbol (logo) that can be used to feature the festival. Anyone participating in the activity will use the name and logo on their publicity.

Here's the concept: The Arts Council will promote all projects that feature local artists during the festival on our Web site, in ArtScene, our newsletter, and through a media campaign. We want to bring attention to artists, arts groups and community arts projects and demonstrate that artists and the arts flourish in Greater Rochester. The more inclusive we can make the project, the more successful it will be. The synergy of a lot of activities happening at once is what will make this an exciting project.

Name of event: We need a name. Be creative and short, but memorable.
For example: Arts Fusion: celebrating artists of the 21st Century.

Logo criteria includes:

  1. Wit and universality, an inclusive image
  2. Unique to the Rochester region
  3. Artistic merit
  4. Simple with recognizable impact, connected to Rochester
  5. An image that is recognizable from a distance, flexibility of dimension (large or small), and reproducible in black and white, as well as color

Deadline for ideas and preliminary designs: Thursday, April 27, 2000.

Please share this information with others who you think might be interested. In the future, if you would prefer to receive an email instead of a flyer, please send us your email address.

For more information, email your ideas to Ginna at gm@artsrochester.org; call
716-473-4000, ext. 203; or mail to Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester, 277 North Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14607.

  • What other kinds of projects would you like to see happening in celebration of Millennial Events? How can we encourage and engage city, county, arts organizations and business participation? • Many other arts organizations are also planning activities during this time period as part of their regular schedule.
