B.A. Fine Arts Program

We are looking for an artist to teach part-time in the B.A. Fine Arts program which is part of the Division of Human Studies, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Our fine arts foundation program is a unique four-semester program that emphasizes the integration of fine arts practice with theory in the context of the liberal arts.

For the fall semester, we are looking for someone to teach two sections of “Seeing, Perception and Interpretation.” The studio component of this first semester foundation course focuses on drawing, color theory, and painting. In the spring semester, we need someone to teach two sections of “Image, Text and Culture.” The studio component of this fourth semester foundation course includes a photography section. Both courses are team taught with an art theorist who is largely responsible for integrating philosophical perspectives with the studio practice. Classes meet Monday through Thursday afternoons.

We are interested in talking with people for either semester’s work or for the entire year. Preference will be given to candidates who hold an MFA or other terminal degree and who have some teaching experience.

Please submit your materials by June 21, 2006. (No electronic submissions.)

Send CV, letter explaining teaching philosophy, list of three references, and 10-20 slides (or CD) of your work to:
