Arts & Cultural Council Announces $6135 in Special Opportunity Stipends For 2001-2002

Rochester, NY October 18 2001- The Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester announces the Special Opportunity Stipends (S.O.S.) for the Genesee Valley/Finger Lakes Region. Thirteen (13) visual and performing artists received a total of $6135 in funding. Three times per year funds totaling up to $7000 in each round are awarded in $50 - $600 stipends for artists in all disciplines. Artists will use their stipends to take advantage of career-building opportunities that will take place between November 2001 and February 2002. The next round of applications will be due on February 4, 2002. Recipients must reside in one of the following counties: Monroe, Cayuga, Livingston, Genesee, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Yates, Wayne, or Wyoming.

The Special Opportunity Stipend program is funded by New York State Council on the Arts through the New York Foundation for the Arts. The program is administered by the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester in association with area arts councils.
