Synartgy Kick-off

What's happening

The Arts and Cultural Council of Greater Rochester kicks off "Synartgy: Millennial Celebration of the Arts of Greater Rochester."

2 p.m., Sunday, September 17.

Where

Renowned sculptor Wendell Castle's new facility, 9 Lent Avenue, Leroy, NY. Directions from Downtown Rochester: take Interstate 490 West past 390 to the Leroy Exit, follow Route 19 South into Leroy, turn right on Route 5 (Main Street), take the next right on Lent Avenue, go about 200 yards to #9 (on the left side) - gray brick factory with narrow windows near the roof.

Why it matters

A campaign of this magnitude has never before been undertaken in our area. Synartgy is a first-of-its-kind, 10-week-long effort to generate interest in and excitement about our region's multiplicity of artistic/cultural talent and events. The Arts Council will specially promote Synartgy through its Website and other media, all dance, music, theater, visual arts and other arts happenings in the region.

What you can see

Meet Wendell Castle and have a tour though his new furniture factory in Leroy, NY. You will be able to view his new furniture work on exhibit in his new showroom; and work by local artists donated to the Downstairs Cabaret. See special performances by Downstairs Cabaret performers of cabaret style Broadway tunes and standards.
