Background
Since 2001, the Education through the Arts matching grant program has:
- awarded nearly $72,000 to 51 arts in education partnerships;
- served in excess of 25,000 students;
- involved more than 275 teachers/teaching artists throughout Monroe County.
How it Works
Education through the Arts provides matching funds for partnerships between schools and teaching artists and/or cultural organizations. The projects must:
- include both arts and non-arts subjects;
- address the New York State Learning Standards;
- be collaboratively designed;
- occur during the school day.
One or two rounds of funding are conducted each year (depending upon resources available). Grant requests are reviewed by a local peer group panel convened especially for this purpose. Each panel is made up of educators, artists, arts organization representatives, and administrators.
