Pro Bono Legal Assistance

The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester works with a number of area law firms to provide access to free legal assistance for eligible artists and non-profit organizations on a variety of issues.

Assistance is available on a wide range of issues including intellectual property, non-profit incorporation, federal tax-exempt status, contract review, and more.

Applicants for pro bono legal assistance must be current members of the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.  Organizations seeking pro bono legal assistance must have a current-year operating budget of no greater than $600,000.  Individuals must have a household income no greater than 200% of the federal poverty guideline, as established by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.  For the most current federal poverty guidelines, please visit: http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/index.shtml and click the appropriate link.

The Arts & Cultural Council also offers legal issues workshops (fees may apply).
