Summer 2010 cover art: The Kodacolor Party of 1928, photograph courtesy of the George Eastman House Collections, an image used in WXXI's Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre. George Eastman, left, and Thomas Edison in the gardens at George Eastman House in Rochester, New York, on July 30, 1928, at the Kodacolor Party – when Eastman and Kodak introduced amateur color motion pictures to the world. In addition to Hollywood executives and national media, Edison was Eastman's special guest at the event. Eastman and Edison first collaborated on motion pictures decades earlier, when the film from Eastman's Kodak camera of 1888 was adapted for Edison's movie machines. In this publicity pose, the two men assume their place in history: Eastman with his motion picture film and Edison with a motion picture camera.
